FOR INDIVIDUALS AND COUPLES
Sherry Amatenstein, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker lives in New York City. She is a staff therapist at Washington Square Institute and Long Island Consultation Center.
The relationship author uses a combination of approaches – i.e.: psychodynamic, spiritual, cognitive – to help her patients stop getting in their own way and lead happier, more productive, loved-filled lives. Her philosophy for couples is “empathy versus anger works miracles.”
She specializes in individuals and couples work. She works with clients in person and over the telephone.
A journalist, author and longtime adjunct writing professor at New School for Social Research and NYU in Manhattan, she also enjoys working with artists and writers to help them work through creative and psychological blocks.
You can work with Sherry to:
recognize and stop repeating childhood patterns that keep you stuck and unhappy.
build your ego and learn to love yourself. The most important relationship you’ll ever have is with yourself.
recognize your defenses (i.e.: isolating, using addictive behavior to keep from feeling emotions) and work to stop them from controlling your life
stop blaming your partner for all your problems and “own” your life.
move from a relationship fueled by anger and ruts to one filled with empathy, true communication and love.
